Posting these pictures in November, I see how I took for granted that bright sun. My skin was all glowing, lips gloss poppin’, and you could tell I was soaking up the rays. But, if I could flash back to that time, I would definitely just lay on the beach more and maybe even fall asleep there. It was too good and I think it’s safe to say that pink dress is going to be a summer staple. It’s easy, comfortable and will always be a great throw on for beach days and catching some sun rays. Did you see what I did there? I rhymed, haha.
Growing up on an island was very trying. There were times I wanted to just pick up and ship out to the city and live the exciting life. I never truly appreciated the beauty of where I grew up until I left. After living in two major cities, I have been given the chance to see the beauty in my surroundings. Part of why I chose the catch phrase, “the art of creative living” was because I wanted my readers to see the beauty in all that surrounds them. Before we know it, life can pass us by and we missed some of the finer details.
I come from the beach. It’s within me. It’s a part of me. It’s in my being. I love the ocean. The feel of the sand on bare feet. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The smell of seaweed in the air. The horizon, seagulls, piping plovers, sea bass, shells, rocks, seagrass and everything else that goes along with being at the beach. The peace one can find at the shore is incomparable to anything else. I’ve been blessed with the luck of being born at a part of such a wonderful place.
The next time you find yourself at the beach, take the time to reflect. Go inward. Maybe bring some coloring books along and draw. Get creative. If all else, all you need is a towel, sunblock and some shades. Just lay out and enjoy the vibes. I rarely see hellish, stress laden people at the beach. It’s a great place to ground yourself. Just bury your feet in the sand and think of being centered and one with the earth. It’s amazing. Even better, dip into the salt water and cleanse yourself. It literally is a refresher that can take away some the ick, weight and messiness that regular reality can bring. Try it sometimes, you won’t regret it.
Not only did I spend a few days in Barcelona, but I also went to the beach town Sitges. I have to say, it is wildly recommended. It’s this adorable little beach town that is easy to find, with a little bit of a google search. I had already been to Barcelona once in the past, knowing a little bit about it I wanted to discover someplace new, cool, and close enough that it would feel like a day trip.
Sitges is beautiful. You can sense that it is old and has a lot of history, but at the same time it is very fun. Modern in the sense of its free spirit and openness to the Gay community. So free, they even have a nude beach catered to the LGBTQ crowd and a lot of bars and nightclubs that are geared in that direction, however not necessarily exclusive to it. I recall even seeing a drag queen hosting a lunch and entertaining the crowd at some point, I did love the purple hair, but missed out on a photo, my bad.
Lastly the place was beautiful. Amazing beach with an incredible view. I stood at the top of these steps and was blown away. Being a beach girl myself, I could not help but feel right at home. However, the Mediterranean sea is very different from the Atlantic ocean, which I am used to.
Experienced fashion stylist Linda Rodin used her beauty icon status to create a set of beautiful lip colors. Most may recognize her from her lifestyle brand RODIN, loved by fans for its collection of face and body oils. It’s only right she unleash a new line of Luxury Lipsticks and matching Lip Pencils. The lipstick range features five shades ranging from the nude pink “So Mod” to the bright orange “Tough Tomato.” Inspired by her late mother, Rodin even created a beautiful purple shade titled “Billie on the Bike.” Final Word: It’s never to late to keep reinventing oneself.
