So today I decided to wake up earlier so that I could complete my yoga practice and meditation. I also wanted to get in some photos and of course my day 3 ritual. For the 3rd day of the month, the focus is on renewal. Focus on nature as a backdrop to what you’d like to refresh and regenerate. Too do this, you can spend some time just looking into the sky, walking in the park, woods, listening to the sounds outdoors like dogs barking, birds singing, trees rustling, watch the sunset, and perhaps grab some rocks to remember to ground yourself. Try it out, it doesn’t hurt. I know it’s cold for some of us, but if you can, try to take even just 3 minutes outside. Maybe accompany your smoker friend on their quick break, haha. Basically, get creative.
Following yesterdays post about the New Year and me taking on the first 12 days to ensure I have a year full of love, prosperity, and joy! Today’s theme is Love. Now when I say love, I’m not talking about loving another person, family, or friends, although all of that is important, I’m talking about self love. This is something that has been really important to me. Working on self love. I think everyone could use a lil loving…of themselves that is.
Love is a funny thing because everyone has a different definition of what love is. This is why it’s so important to start understanding how you interpret love. Do you define it through gifts, affirmations, gestures, affection etc? All of those are valid and true to whichever works for you. I’m bit on self talk and being more compassionate with myself. I noticed, I treat everyone else with such patience and understanding, but I don’t do the same with myself. Why?
To treat this, I took time today to meditate, do some yoga, and started a conversation with myself. I suggest we all start carving out 20 minutes of our day to just be with ourselves. Start asking yourself How can I be more loving today? Then see what comes to you. It could be as simple as allowing yourself to take a nap. Or reaching out to your cousin and just letting them know you love them. Or simply holding the door for someone. Who knows? Your inner being does. Why not spend some time with yourself and treating yourself to some good loving. Bath time anyone?
Too Faced is really riding that mythical creature and their amazing ethereal beauty that we all wish we had train heavy. First they had Unicorn Tears. Everyone was digging it because, well unicorns. Well now they’ll be coming out with additions because who doesn’t like a good hologram lippie? Well maybe not everyone, but I love to spice things up every now and then. Enter Too Faced’s newest additions, “Mermaid Tears,” “Angel Tears” and “Fairy Tears.”
I literally only became interested because they have one named Mermaid Tears. An aspiring mermaid myself, I love anything that has to do with the mystical being. I’ll most likely cop, even if it looks crappy on me. I mean, cuz, well I don’t have to justify myself…hahaha I’m kidding. But I really don’t though.
I absolutely love Colourpop Cosmetics! They make high quality makeup, with a small price tag. I originally tried them out when I heard of a flash sale the brand was having storewide. The California based brand was giving folks a chance to buy their goods for as little as 4 dollars for a lippie. Of course I had to give them a shot. I’m so glad I did. It’s been love ever since. Welp, the brand launched a limited edition line of crystal infused products. Nothing that is crazy new in the beauty industry. Why I’m so hyped is that they made it affordable! The lineup includes priming and setting sprays, highlighter, and lip balm. Well I’m happy to say I have become a proud owner and although I still don’t have the products in my hand, I will soon. I opted for the complete collection of the Rose Quartz infused selection, I also bough the setting and priming sprays that incorporated amethyst, aquamarine, and aventurine. I plan to post a video on my experience with the products, so be on the lookout for that! Final word: Makeup is often said to have transformative powers, well now folks can try it out without dropping tons of money.
Spent some time hanging out in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. There I found a really cool carousel. Luckily no kiddies were around and I figured it would be the perfect backdrop for a shoot. Do you like? Haha. Also, those braids were the longest I have ever had them. Reaching my waist, they were heavy as ever, but fun overall. I will be reinstalling some box braids, but in a different kind of style. And in case you were curious, I like to use Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey Protective Styles Calming Tension Spray (whew that was a long title) or Africa’s Best Braid Sheen Spray with Conditioner, each are clickable links if you’d like to know more. Yet, I have been known to simply use my favorite Shea Moisture deep conditioner mixed with water on my braids daily too. Gros bisous and peep the rest of my fave shots below! BTW, there’s a part 2 coming soon!
