A project I have been working on lately focuses around pins. Pins are in, but I was on it way before these garment ornaments were put in the spotlight. Of course, I wasn’t the first to add pins to a jacket, but I have always liked them for added detail. Pins are so in mode, that even my favorite chic shop colette is having an exhibition called Wearing Buttons is not Enough, focused around original protest buttons from the 1960s until May 20th. Also, just yesterday I visited this adorable, kitch, vintage inspired shop in Montreuil called Les Tatas Flingueses and was gifted a pin (shown below)! I love it, because the more I add, the more interesting the coat becomes. On my recent trip to London I bought a new pin, a black London taxi, and I simply adore it. Another important plan of action when pinning clothes is placement. Always keep in mind where you want the pins to land, however I’ve seen pins placed randomly and that too can look great. In the end, it’s all about how you feel and what seems right. I placed a majority of mine on the collar. As my collection grows, who knows the places they’ll go. Final word: Pins are such a simple detail, but pack a ton of character!
