Day 3 of the New Year, New Me Regimen

January 3, 2018 by Suedonym Leave a Comment

So today I decided to wake up earlier so that I could complete my yoga practice and meditation. I also wanted to get in some photos and of course my day 3 ritual. For the 3rd day of the month, the focus is on renewal. Focus on nature as a backdrop to what you’d like to refresh and regenerate. Too do this, you can spend some time just looking into the sky, walking in the park, woods, listening to the sounds outdoors like dogs barking, birds singing, trees rustling, watch the sunset, and perhaps grab some rocks to remember to ground yourself. Try it out, it doesn’t hurt. I know it’s cold for some of us, but if you can, try to take even just 3 minutes outside. Maybe accompany your smoker friend on their quick break, haha. Basically, get creative.

New Year, Day 2!

January 2, 2018 by Suedonym Leave a Comment

Following yesterdays post about the New Year and me taking on the first 12 days to ensure I have a year full of love, prosperity, and joy! Today’s theme is Love. Now when I say love, I’m not talking about loving another person, family, or friends, although all of that is important, I’m talking about self love. This is something that has been really important to me. Working on self love. I think everyone could use a lil loving…of themselves that is.

Love is a funny thing because everyone has a different definition of what love is. This is why it’s so important to start understanding how you interpret love. Do you define it through gifts, affirmations, gestures, affection etc? All of those are valid and true to whichever works for you. I’m bit on self talk and being more compassionate with myself. I noticed, I treat everyone else with such patience and understanding, but I don’t do the same with myself. Why?

To treat this, I took time today to meditate, do some yoga, and started a conversation with myself. I suggest we all start carving out 20 minutes of our day to just be with ourselves. Start asking yourself How can I be more loving today? Then see what comes to you. It could be as simple as allowing yourself to take a nap. Or reaching out to your cousin and just letting them know you love them. Or simply holding the door for someone. Who knows? Your inner being does. Why not spend some time with yourself and treating yourself to some good loving. Bath time anyone?

New Year, New Me!

January 1, 2018 by Suedonym Leave a Comment

Such a corny title I know…me even saying corny could be, in fact, corny. But I have to say, for the first time ever I just may attempt to live by that quote “new year, new me.” I actually really am going to take this quote to heart. In fact, my first plan of action is to take the first 12 days of the new year to reflect and move into a new direction. I figure it’s worth a shot and either way, it really won’t hurt anything, only add to my never ending search for fulfillment within myself. Win-win right? Right!

For Day 1 (January 1st) It’s a day to focus on breathing. Breathe in love, creativity, joy, health and prosperity. Try it, allow the breath you exhale to release all doubts and fear. When breathing in, take in and think about all that you desire. Allow the universe to bring it, to give it.

I would also like to add that I plan to do the breathing exercises for the whole 12 days. Whatever I add as the days go on, will be incorporated toward the following days. For example, on day 2 I will focus on love. So for Day 3 I will do the breathing exercise and my love exercises. If this makes any sense. Basically, by day 12, I will have 12 different things to do.

If you end up trying this, let me know. I’d love to hear all about it.

L.A. Got Me Buggin’

December 27, 2017 by Suedonym Leave a Comment

So I went to Los Angeles earlier this month to visit my cousin. As expected she was an amazing host and had me bopping all over Los Angeles. Of course I didn’t mind. LA is one of those special places that always leaves me questioning everything. For starters, why don’t I live there? You get way more bang for your buck concerning lodging. The climate is exceptional, and I have a good amount of friends and my favorite cousin living in the metropolis. However, the one thing that I always notice whenever I’m out there is how much I don’t put myself out there. Everyone is like a peacock, showing off their beautiful feathers and I humbly look on. Which begs the question…why am I holding back?

Sometimes I believe we reflect our surroundings. If I were perhaps surrounded by a bunch of peacocks, would I then perk up and show my pretty colors too? Maybe I do show myself as I am, it’s just overshadowed in LA due to everyone being equally as shiny? Who knows? All I know is it was a good thing, because I definitely saw that I had a few things to work on and I do want to work on them. So as always, I arrive in LA as one person and leave it completely different. This I can honestly say is completely worth it.

Until next time, that’s the word from its her word!

Meditative State

December 5, 2017 by Suedonym Leave a Comment

Lately I’ve been in this place where I have been meditating regularly. I go through stages where I do this often and stick to it for a good period of time. Then somehow I fall off the wagon. So for now, I’m sticking to my guns. The goal is to go at least 40 days consecutively meditating. Why? Well I’ve been meditating since forever it seems. Since before it was okay to say it anyhow. When it was first brought to me as a practice instead of just this natural thing I would do, I had a disk that stated to do it for 40 days. Why 40 days you ask? Well it is the idea of breaking a habit in a world where we can get caught up and fall back into bad habits (hello Netflix!).

I will say this, after 40 days magic always happens. Overtime, things clear up and everything seems more clear. It’s amazing and beautiful. Every time I stop and start up again, I always ask myself why did I stop in the first place? What had me fall off? Many reasons of course, but another point I forgot to add is that you can’t miss a day. You have to start from the beginning if you miss a day, hence it being a practice that breaks a habit. For those interested, you can check out some really good mediations here at Sounds True.

I would just like to end my meditation PSA with this, it will be worth it. You will feel much better. Look much better. Live much better. Be better. All from taking 40 days out of your life to try something new or restart down a path you fell off of. Meditation has so many benefits, so why not give it a shot. The only thing you have to lose is a little bit of time. But in the end, I think you’ll find out there really was no time lost at all. Namaste.
