It’s day 12 of the first 12 days of 2018 and for the 12 day reboot. I’m happy to say I stayed true to what I intended to do. I stood my ground and completed each day diligently. It feels good and for the 12th day we get to end it on a good note!!!! For today, it’s all about gratitude. Let’s give it up for all the wonderful things we have in our life. For starters, we can talk about just how lucky we are to be alive in this era. I mean, I’m talking to a wide range of people and getting my voice heard while sitting on my sofa in Paris. That’s amazing! I am thankful and grateful for so many things, but I would have to say the thing that tops my list the most is growth. I have come so far since starting this blog and I have to say, I am so happy to be in such a different place then I was a year ago. It feels amazing.
So today we’re supposed to focus on abundance. The thing is, what does abundance really mean? I hear it all the time in mindfulness talks. Ask for abundance they say, speak only about abundance. However, what exactly am I asking for when I agree to this abundance? The first definition according to Dictionary.com is as follows: Aif we ask for abundance alone. So I decided to ask for an abundance of love. Self love, family love, friend love, planet love and whatever else I could think of. You know what, that sufficed for now. I chose love because, well I think we all could use a bit more love, and there’s never too much right? With that being said, I offer this affirmation for abundance, which I repeat to myself as much as possible whenever it comes to my:
God lives, moves and being is within me.
Repeat this affirmation at least 3 times in the morning, afternoon and at night and see what starts to happen.
Wisdom, what a word. It’s jam packed with so much. It’s so heavy. It’s one of those things I always picture a bearded man with a top hat giving advice. Or an ethereal black woman just spouting inspiration musings everywhere she goes when I think of this word. This is what we’re to focus on today. I say go talk to someone older and more wise than yourself. Heck, sometimes some of the best wisdom can come from your two year old nephew who reminds you to not hold grudges because, well, he doesn’t. One thing i would say, is to pay attention to that little voice in your head that talks to you. Your intuition. Try to start giving it the benefit of a doubt and see what comes up. Remembers, that voice will only give you things that will lead to good. Anything else is not the inner voice.
Being present in the theme for day 6. It’s one that I struggle with a lot. I think many people can relate, being actually present is too freaking difficult, especially if you constantly have a chattery mind. It’s easy to get swept up in our cell phones, social media, television, Netflix and just your average procrastination. What sucks is I’ve worked really hard to diminish my dependency on my phone when I’m around company. So far it’s been great, but sometimes I notice my company not doing the same. Which is a bit saddening, but that’s how things work now. With time and patience it’s definitely a possibly to jump the hurdle of forgetting the present and being actually present, but it’s worth it. Like Kanye said “my presence is a present” and that goes for how we treat our own present. It’s a gift and before we know it, poof, it’ll pass us by. So pay attention!
